Yesterday, after he bowed out of the single track after about 2 kms of it, we ran into him at the end of the day and he seemed quite pleased that he had racked up 80+ kms running around on truck trails. I just looked at him like he was nuts.
I never really enjoyed the truck trails, in Mclean or Waiporous or wherever. Mind you, I had a jeep before I got serious about the off road MC thing.

In that time I learned:
- Jeeps are expensive, and break parts that are also expensive (daily)
-35" tires are good for the staging area and Hwy 40, 40" tires are bearable, 44" tires are better, and 54" are best.
-Puddles are a total roll of the dice, could be 2", 12" or 48" deep, best way to find out is to ride a MC into it. Depth increases in direct relation to the speed at which it's hit.
-My wife doesn't like off-camber jeep trails.
-the trail system extends WAY beyond what you can see from a drivers seat, SXS or Quad.

And more importantly
-Join a club and fight for access to those trails!

Don't give up on your buddy the Jeep trail warrior. I thought I knew Mclean until I joined this club and realized I knew almost nothing

Oh, and WR 450s are heavy and a pain to jet, but reliable and easy to de-water.
