Trials bike insurance?

Post by Brass »

My regular insurance company (TD Primmum) will not insure my trials bike. Does anyone have a recommendation for a company that can offer coverage?

Blue Circle works for me. I also use TD for other insurance and they couldn't manage the trials bike.

I went to State Farm a few years ago when I had a GasGas and have stayed with them ever since, pricing CRUSHED what I was paying from TD/Primmum.

Nordic is also a good option. They are a division of intact.

I am using Intact for my vintage bike that TD wouldn't touch, they will probably cover you.

Unfortunately State Farm was purchased by another company and as of this year they will not insure any dirt bikes that you own unless your auto insurance is also with them.

Called State farm today and told me they wouldn't even give me a quote on it without having other policies with them. I'm not one to have a gun held to my head and if that is their service now, what would it be like if I really needed them.

Then I tried blue circle and was told they wanted my other bikes or else they wouldn't cover just liability on the trials bike. At least they gave a quote. They came back with at $1098/year for 2 bikes with full coverage and the liability only on the trials bike. Compared to $560 I pay now for full coverage with replacement value for 2 bikes. Almost $500 just for liability

I'm pushing TD to insure it since they have me for 6-7 other policies but I'll try Nordic/Intact as well. Thanks for the recommendations.

Why do they make it so difficult to be legal??

I wish TD would get over themselves and insure kids bikes and trials bikes. I have numerous policies with them and now have to insure my 2 kids bikes on top of my bike. I don't really want to go anywhere else out of convenience.

I ended up with Dalton Timmins insurance.

They seem quite pro bike. I didn't ask them about trials bikes in particular, but it is with a try. They are claiming to be the "Official Insurer of KTM Canada".

If I can remember, faulty at best these days, I'll double check what I pay on the trials bike tonight.

I'll toss a plug in for Dalton Timmis Insurance 403-241-2288, Ryan Rust there was very helpful and the quote was very reasonable.

Try Bill Eckhart at Touchstone Insurance
(403) 457-5758

He is a rider, and pretty popular on a few other local forums. Seems to always have the right market for people. Most of my friends and family have talked to him.
