So long for now - heading back to the US
Just a note to tell everyone so long - my power plant project in Pennsylvania has been moved up, so I'm headed back to the US sooner than I expected. I'd like to thank everyone for the fantastic welcome to Calgary and to the RMDRA - everyone went out of their way to make me feel at home. I was a delighted guest on a lot of fantastic rides. I'm sorry to miss this year's riding season in the Canadian Rockies, but on the other side of the coin, it'll be nice to get back to a 10 month riding season, and the area I'm going to has 18 enduros and 12 hare scrambles this year - the old strip mine country in that part of the US is largely available for riding with heavily wooded mountains, and literally a thousand kilometers of great singletrack within a couple hours from where I'll be working.
I'll keep my membership up and stay in touch - I'm not sure how soon, but I'll definitely be back to play (I'm retiring after the next project), and plan to spend some time on those new trails that are in the works. I'd really hoped to help with that effort before I left the area.
See you down the trail - if you're ever headed to the south central US, we have some great riding in the Ozark mountains, too, give me a shout.

Art it was a real pleasure to have you. You are a roll model volunteer and an outstanding dirt biker. Also a great dude. Thanks for helping the club out on so many levels.

I feel the same way. You made a great difference here, and your presence will be missed. I'm thankful that we we met, rode and worked together. Come back for some riding anytime.timbruce wrote:Art it was a real pleasure to have you. You are a roll model volunteer and an outstanding dirt biker. Also a great dude. Art, reading your note this morning makes me feel like one of my best friends just said he's leaving. I'm already dreaming of excuses to come south to ride and tell stories. You'll be sorely missed and not forgotten around these parts. Safe travels and finish your next job ASAP so you've got more time to ride and travel.

Re: So long for now - heading back to the US
Thanks for all the kind words - I know it's a long haul, but I've always got a spare bedroom or two - I'll be in northeast Pennsylvania for the next year and a half, and back in eastern Oklahoma after that. Both have excellent riding (and a completely different character) - come visit and ride. Bring a street bike, too - both areas have fantastic back-road twisties.
