Actually my white Sidi's clean up ok with a magic eraser, if you got all synthetic boots no biggie to be tip top.

white boots absorb less heat from the sun. It makes a difference on those sunny afternoon trail work days....
I try to stay away from black for my helmets and gear for that reason. Unless the black stuff is cheaper, then you suffer with a few $ in your pocket
