Was wondering if one of these would have merit for cutting slabs for bridge decks out in the woods?

I have built a few log bridges and am always amazed at how many logs it takes to make a bridge.
Looks to be light weight. With one of these and a big saw could use one large log to deck whole bridge.
Lee Valley has them for $165.00

that looks handy!
and might offer rough cut traction a bit better in the wet that bark barren @#$%! logs!
can the club afford one?
count me in for a bridge building day

Neat looking tool. Surprisingly affordable too. I wonder how well it works...

They work good along with a rip chain on a big bore saw but you would need another tool to quarter it first that uses a long guide to get it started.
Totally unnecessary for bush craft thought, just free hand (eyeball) the cut.
