i have a 97 Ram with the 12V Cummins.
It sits on 35's. It has a #10 fuel plate (capable of an extra 400hp) but is tuned at an extra 100hp.
It has an aftermarket cold air intake.
The tranny will blow up one day...

i get 17mpg city and 20-23mpg highway. i have been using fuel and injector treatments and noticed an improved mpg.

Hmmm...registered as a 97. Bought on title as a 97. In 98.5, they changed to 24V.

i believe that all dodges from 94-98.5 shared many of the same parts.

EDIT:
94-2002 had very little exterior/interior changes. The exception was the club cab now came with suicide doors in 98.5. The engine was also changed to 24V in 98.5.
Strictly speaking the 2500 series, interior and exterior were mostly interchangeable.

Don't get a 07 or later diesel if you're looking for fuel economy (the particulate filters need raw fuel injected on the exhaust stroke to burn the filter out clean).

My 08 dodge 3500 Mega 4x4 stock averaged ~12 mpg (US) mixed, ~10 towing the Bronco on the carhauler. Never broke 14 mpg unloaded on the highway at 65.

Sh!t tons of power tho. :D

I currently drive an '08 F-350 and have 45km on it. I havn't had to many issues with it, but I'd agree that it is average at best. The tranny seems to be the weak point. I'd like to change.... What is the comment on the '07 and newer Dodge? Is the ride still like a "lumber Wagon" as Dobi mentioned? Is the overall package that the Dodge offers better when it comes to pulling 12,000 + lbs? It seems like the 2500 HD GM is happiest at lighter loads.

You can get a DPF delete kit for newer diesels. Most dealers don't see it as as warantee issue because it does not change the computer tune. Way better mileage if you do.
Ford's 6.0 also known as the six-leaker has injector problems and head gasket problems from the head bolts stretching.
The Ford 6.4 has a bunch of its own problems. I heard whoever had the contract for the 6.4 is running out of engines to cover warantee work. The new Ford's are 6.7L. I haven't heard anything about them yet other then Ford is building them in house. The old 7.3 I think was the best Ford diesel they made.
I think the 04 and up Duramax is the one you want if you are shopping for a Chev.
Dodge Cummins seem to be the most reliable motor but their tranny's always seem to sheet the bed.
