Mine has been rock solid. With just under 70,000km of abuse I've gone through a battery (factory Exide=garbage IMO), 2 chains, one set of sprockets, 1 set of brake pads, one clutch cable, one set of wheel bearings and a grip heater. One chain/sprocket set and the grip heater were covered under warranty. There's lots of pissing and moaning online about the F8 but I can't complain one bit. Maybe I got lucky, maybe my riding style is easier on parts than most peoples, maybe it's that I do preventative maintenance and most people don't  The 2008 and 2009 (mines '09) had a few recalls and glitches but everything is sorted out now. Mine was affected by the chain/sprocket recall (bad run of CZ brand chains).

It gets wicked mileage (average low 50's as high as 65mpg), it's super snappy, 85hp, can run 200kph+, can load it up with a enough gear to live off it for months at a time, can throw knobbies on it and ride everything short of single track, can commute with it, take a passenger to Banff or comfortably bang off 900km in a day. It's the Leatherman/Swiss Army Knife of bikes IMO  With the addition of the Husaberg for the nasty stuff, all my riding needs are covered.
