New Rider Trailer Options
New Rider Trailer Options
Hello I'm new to offroad riding and I am looking at options to get my bike to the trails. I am looking at a Kendon folding trailer as I have limited space and it can fit in my garage, but it is quite pricey. Does anyone have any experience with these trailer? Are they worth the money or are there better options that I am not aware of?

I'm in a similar situation - little space for a trailer. I have a RAV4 which has too little capacity to use a hitch-mounted carrier.
There are at least 2 more avenues you can pursue: http://www.motorcycletrailer.com or http://www.bccargotrailers.com BC Cargo Trailers is in Armstrong, and although they don't show a compact or foldable trailer on their website it may be worth a phone call to them to see if they have anything that may work for you.
If you get a foldable trailer I'd be interested in hearing your experience with it.

Depending on your garage height/depth, it's cheaper than building a bigger garage, or selling the house for a bigger garage. And you won't need to buy an expensive folding trailer.
BTW, I realize this (lift and 'normal trailer') is going to cost you more than the folding trailer, but some of us are just looking for that excuse!!
P.S. Costco was selling lifts at one point. Not sure if they are any more.

You can get a really cheap little folding trailer from Harbor Freight, but it would require a trip down to Spokane and an import process. The trailer starts out at $280, but would probably be more like $700 by the time you got it home. Then you have to beef it up a bit because it's cheapity china cheap, but people seem to like them once they get them sorted out.

Re: New Rider Trailer Options
I have a Kendon so I can tell you that it definitely works as advertised. I do fold mine up when it's not in use and roll it up against the back of my garage. It probably occupies about 2 1/2 feet when folded up. It's not a lightweight trailer so it takes a bit of grunt to lift it up and tilt it onto it's caster wheels, but once up you can maneuver it fairly well.
The trailer seems well built with large sized wheels and big bearings for durability. It has a torsion bar suspension that keeps it behaving well on rough surfaces...way less bouncing around on washboard than a solid axle leaf spring set up. It's got good capacity as well as I've loaded it up with two dirtbikes and a streetbike and it trailered very nicely with that 900 lb burden.
There are lots of solid attachment points for your tie downs plus you can use climbing slings around the tubular frame rails for more attaching points if you wish.
I've had it for two years now and it's had nothing fall off or fail beyond the usual burdened out tail lights - a pretty good unit in my opinion. But not cheap as you know.
Hope that helps.

Re: New Rider Trailer Options
I have an enclosed trailer but sometimes us a receiver hitch rack. They are available at princess auto and costco online has one as well. depending on what you are driving this might be an option for you.

On the trailer option, Costco has these little trailers in spring/summer. Typically $1000-1200, and they sell out relatively quickly. I have one and it works well. I've used it to haul bikes, plywood, drywall, sand, gravel, etc...
