Hello from Airdrie!

Post by DirtNoob »

Hello,

My son (6) and I are just getting initiatiated into the world of dirt riding! Looking for any advice on good places to learn for us both, I ride sportbikes, never had a dirt ride until now... 3 yrs of "dad, I want a dirt bike, a BLUE dirt bike"... I caved. We now have a Yamaha PW50 and a KTM 450EXC and need to learn how to get the most out of them!

Anyone know of good beginner areas around Aridrie? Are there many family-friendly places? Does a PW need to be registered and insured?

Sorry for all the questions, but we're brand new to this, diving in head first!

Hello and welcome to the better world of dirt riding. Irricana gravel pits is an ok place around Airdrie. Someone will chime in with the exact location soon I'm sure.

As for learning how to ride the dirt, buy a membership and join the guided rides this summer. You'll learn lots, quickly.

Thanks giantjoe!

I've heard a lot about this gravel pit and it seems close, just haven't been able to get a firm location... lookign forward to getting out soon if the weather cooperates...

As to the membership - good call! Will anyone from RMDRA be at the Cycleworx sale Thursday do you know? Would I be able to get a membership there?

Welcome to the club, Irricana gets a little congested on some weekends and its a little intimidating to new riders, otherwise other than that it is a good place. Happy riding maybe I'll see ya out there one day.

Has anyone been out to the Irricana Pits there? Will it be ride-able this weekend or has anyone else been riding around Calgary yet?

You guys are not very friendly here. Do you belong to the Irricana Pit Squids Mafia :redneck: or the Rocky Mountain Dirt Riders Association  .

If I may be so bold as to inquire from the pit mafia....

What are the current conditions and how might one gain access to the hidden locale?
