Hi and thank you!

We were introduced to the RMDRA this weekend when a couple fellows came along the trail where one of our rider's bikes was down with a hole in the engine case cover (care of a spectacular looking, but fortunately relatively uninjured crash). Thanks to the "super putty" they were carrying (something we're all adding to our packs!) we were able to continue our ride rather than tow the bike back to the road. Thanks gentlemen -- you've gained a few new members!

Welcome aboard.

And that reminds me that I need to pull my case of Putty out of the tool box and place it in my camelback....

Welcome to the club, thanks for sharing the story. Great group here, always lending a hand. It's how I found the club as well, see you out there. Well not the putty, would like to hear more about that.

I know Princess Auto sells a couple different kinds of "putty" one is a 2 part epoxy type and the other is a stick.

I can't recall the brand name, but it was around $15 whenI picked it up at Rocky Mountain ATV a few years ago when I was there.

The stick type is more like putty and seems to firm up/harden faster - 2 part for the garage (essentially JB Weld), stick for the trail. (the single stick is also 2 part - you knead it together to mix the parts and activate it)

Not only is it good for repairing holes in cases, I've even used the stick to plug up/repair a punctured fuel tank on the trail!

Definately a "must have" - as important as tie wire and pair of pliers in the tool pack.

They didn't have it last night. Only the tube versions.

They did have some stick stuff but I didn't think it would fix a case.

I bought some at CTC. It's called Permatex PremaPoxy. I also bought some from Sietzco called Moose Quicksteel Epoxy . Same price each place, about $7.00.
