And don't forget to tighten everything before you race. I remember someone's (KTMPilot I think?) gascap came off unexpectedly, and I remember looking down at one point to see coolant splashing and wondering where my radcap went

Arggg, Environment Canada now agrees. Cooler and wet.

Looks like typical May Long weather.

OK, here is the information needed for all you fence sitters and fair weather riders.

I just got back from helping out at the Porkies Cross Country Loop (as ribbon tester :smirk: ) . Many of you will be tempted to skip this race because of a bit of rain. This would be a huge mistake. Right now it is quite dry and dusty. 15-25mm of rain should make for ideal riding conditions so don't be scared off because it rains a bit. For those of you who have ridden Porkies after a good rain or snow you know how truly perfect the conditions get. For the rest of you who are on the fence... get off the fence and start prepping your bike for a truly awesome ride.

If it rains too much the race can be cancelled by the forestry service (Rangers). I have a had this happen to me twice at porkies.

Yes it could happen if there is lots of rain. But right now its tinder dry and dusty out there so for me I hope it rains a bit to knock down the dust.

Hopefully we get some perfect conditions.

I agree with Zeal.
The forecast today looked a lot better than yesterday's and the rain they are calling for could make for some sweet riding!!
I'm looking forward to my first kick at a XC!!

For anyone that is sitting on the fence about this race, get off and go race it.

As a newbie racing last year, this and the Porkies HS were my favorite races by far! I had a terrific time and enjoyed every inch of race loop. Some so much that I covered it twice

Wet or dry doesn't matter, you will have fun!

I won't be able to attend this one but hope to see some helmet cam footage of what I am missing out on!
The voices are back. Awesome!

What... I was working hard checking ribbon. I found a few sections that definitely need some more danger ribbon.

Good to know all my hard work was not appreciated... :D

Haha, should be a fun time.

I found that pretty tough, I was a little miffed when they announced B classes would only do the one loop.

All miff'ness disappeared about 200 meters in, slick rooty challenging single track, and apparently we got the easy loop, hats off to zeal and others that did two loops. I would like to know what wise guy went out and greased up all those roots the night before. Im happy I finished in one piece. 30B seemed like a big class.

That mud clogged tires my tires into large circling mud orbs. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience in a punishing sort of way.
