13 race schedule

anyone seen the race schedule? I heard rmdr is not putting on a race this year?

The race schedule is open until Dec 31, events may be added or deleted until then. After Dec 31 the schedule is finalized and should be posted. It can be very difficult to add events once it's posted. As far as I heard I think there are already 9 events planned for the 13 season and I believe you are only able to drop one race in 2013. Remember the ADRA web site will have all the accurate info by the new year.

For me - I need a break. While I have never been involved in building a race course, I can say that the rest of the organization is a lot of work, in the neighborhood of 160 hours if I had to guess. I don't have that kind of time this year.

So are we looking for someone to take over these responsibilities, or is this a lost opportunity?

We had a discussion on this at the exec meeting last night. We would really like to support an RMDRA race but we need volunteers to make it happen.

On the setting up of the course, we do need someone to commit to this task. The AGM is in about two weeks. If there is anyone interested and willing to do so, please make yourself available. As we all know, there are tons of folks here who love to help out with trail work but we need someone to spearhead & direct the work. The race does not need to be an XC, it could be a HS.

On the paperwork support, I'm willing to help out. I am not capable to do the course but I'm willing to help out 'with paperwork'. I'm not 'the guy' to do the course or run the race day activities. Just trying to be clear about that.

The perception at the meeting last night was that the door is open with the ADRA to schedule a race but we can't support it as a club without appropriate volunteers.

Please make yourself heard no later than the AGM if this interests you.

I would definitely step up, but would need help to execute. I think it would be a good idea to continue to work with all parties and keep this race happening.
