Re: Eastern CEC Rounds
First loop done, I think we are all finding it sketchy, two crashes, both on special tests. In the extreme test I launched my bike downhill into the woods so no podium today!!!! Off for second loop.

Re: Eastern CEC Rounds
2nd loop done, more Spode moves on the extreme, 2crashes on enduro so I'll take this round and just move on...
The good thing is I got a far better feel for the power and conditions, move on to tomorrow

Re: Eastern CEC Rounds
For me it was like the 250 turned into a 300 at the lower elevations. It was tough to adapt to. Keep in there, you got the skills!thirtyseven wrote:The good thing is I got a far better feel for the power and conditions,

Re: Eastern CEC Rounds
Much better day today, toned it down, rode the tests clean with only minor bobles. Now I'm done I'm a little nervous I took it too easy... Results will tell!
Thanks for all the support guys&gals.

Re: Eastern CEC Rounds
Thanks Cycleworks, Dirtyboy and all RMDRA members who have helped me out. I wore Cycleworks gear and RMDRA paraphanelia with pride.
Ok on to the racing... The old guys class wasn't well represented, only 4 of us starting but I got the feeling early that I was in tough, these guys were GOOD! Yesterday I went into the extreme test full of pissandvinegar and promptly threw it away (the bike & my chances) that made me mad so I blasted into the enduro test like a lunatic and wound up on my head a couple times, the mx test was cool. Did pretty much the same thing the next lap, so overnight I came to the conclusion I should stop pushing so hard... My shoulder still hurts and I haven't been on the bike at all outside of races in the last month or so. So I planned today to have more of a " ride" in hopes I feel better next weekend.
I wish I could explain how utterly freaky it is to ride up rock ledges when you can't even walk on the rock it's that slippery and slimy, or how bad you stink after paddling through a rotten leaf bog! Yesterday I stoped before a never ending bog to look for lines that I wouldn't need a crane to get out of. JP, the guy that won today rode up, I said I can't figure it out, he said, "that's easy, go through the middle, watch!". I did and found out the bogs are usually only six inches or so deep here.
Today I rode cleanly, but slowly and actually enjoyed the transfer sections again very very slimy, completely weird traction and slippery rocks every where, like as if some of DUDEs lubricant (WD40) was actually oozing out of the rock.
Had the pleasure on the first loop to ride with Victoria Hett (she is an awesome rider) and on the second with Matt Coonfer. It was great because I realized both these great riders were having the same issues I was!
All in all a huge learning experience and very well organized event, actually I'm proud to have finished the event, and in one piece!

Soild finish, job well done!
Can you bring some of those 6" deep bogs back with you? our bottomless ones are way less fun!

Re: Eastern CEC Rounds
Well, guess who got lost driving from Mont Trembont to Ottawa? Guess who missed his flight?
Another lesson from the traveling to Race files... prepare as much as you can, but be ready to just go with the flow, cause some weekends just won't go your way!
