Hey y'all,

Now that the Grizzly HS is a somewhat faded memory for me, I am actually considering coming out for another one. When and where is the next HS that is around the Calgary area?

The CMRC race on August long is up near Edmonton.

The Second Gear CLub (CMA) is holding a race on the long weekend out at fallen timber that is much closer to Calgary.

CMA has Day Pass for Racing
We also have double header races at HunterValley so if you cant make the long weekend there is the national the weekend after.

I was just in hunter this weekend and it is very nice traction all over with little skag and nice trail conditions.

Thanks for the info, I looked at the schedule and it looks like the long weekend or the next HS is the beginning of September. The classes, what is the appropriat class for 40+ beginners - sportsman?

sportsman is a great class to compete in, very fun, not so competitive buddy rubbing elbows type of racing.

Vet is another great choice, the bottom pack are just older fellows out for a good ride for some bench racing with a brew at the end of the day.
You can always race Sportsman and move yourself to vet if you see that your laptimes are comparable to that class.

Sportsman is Sunday with a cheap club licences.
Vet on sat requires a CMA Licence (day license available), sportsman MAY have a alternate course from vet, a little tamer, however novices run the same course as experts.

Hey KanadianIceMan,

I looked at the schedule on the secondgear website, and it says that Sportsman is on Saturday and all the youth classes are on Sunday. What's the scoop?

"Yes, the idea is to have all the adults race on Saturday, then everyone can chill out around the campfire and not have to rush off. Also gives everyone the opportunity to say, go for a trail ride on Sunday or just not be so rushed and tired to drive home on Sunday. Trying to encourage riders to camp for the night and have a bit more social time. Sunday is just for kids which is a short day. This gives everyone lots of time to drive home. Also, there are some riders that race motocross on Sundays, essentially they could do both now.

"

Im off to huntervalley, peace.
