While Calgary was being rained on, Vega was nice and dry. It sprinkled a bit on Friday night but not enough to wet the sand much. The course started in the sand pit by the main road as usual. Vega is the only HS that does a Motocross style rubber band start. Pictures of the start below.
The sun came out for the start of the race. There was good turn out with 15 Vet Juniors and 42 Juniors. The course was 14.5 km per lap with lap times around 30 minutes for Junior riders. Some of the course was whoops as expected but there was also some nice grassy treed trail without any whoops for 5km or so.
The race was well organized and on-time.
