CMA round one this weekend. Can anyone confirm this is a harescramble? I've heard all CMA rounds are harescrambles this year, but that seems too good to be true. :D

I think that MRSI challenge is the long course HS format. An A and B loop with the A riders doing both loops. It will be fun. :jump:

Nice. Last year's race was pretty fun, but not looking forward to doing "A" loops this year.

How long is the B loop?

If it's a harescramble like last year, then I expect it won't be terribly long. Something like 15-25kms.

Anyone been out there lately? Should I be mounting a rain tire?

I was wondering because I would prefer it on the long end of it. This one was fun last year I think it was around 18km for the b loop.

I prefer just the opposite. Short and fast. :D I agree though, last year's race was fun. I imagine at least some of the loop from the last even will be reused.

Just enough rain to keep the muskeg moist. If I'm not mistaken this is the race that 2 years ago 105lb Jodi had to push me off my bike and ride it out of the Muskeg for me.....

The night terrors about the incident have just stopped, so perfect timing to try again....

Guys,

I'm thinking about giving this race a try! This will be my first race ever, is it a good location to start at or should I be waiting for the Dirty Moose?

I'd be riding novice, I also need info on whether I need to number up my bike or not?

Any input would be great.

Thanks

GW

Yeah this would be a great first race. It's close to Calgary, in the same vicinity as the Dirtier Moose. There might be a couple tricky hills, but despite Bryan's recollection, I don't recall any impassible obstacles from last year's course.

You won't need numbers either. The second gear club will give you a sticker for the back of your helmet with your class on it. There's always the option of trying out one of the sportsman classes too, if you just want to get your feet wet. In sportsman you can choose to ride a shorter duration race and no racing license is required.

Here's a short video from the 2014 race:

3:20 might be my favorite part :smirk:
