Less than a week to go until the next race! Who is coming out to this one?

On the calendar this round is marked "EX" instead of XC or HS (although it does say "harescramble" on the event poster). Causes me to speculate that there may be some man-made elements to the course...

I've never raced at Brooks before. Does anyone have some helmet-cam footage or vivid recollections to share from this event last year?

Looks like an MX track from the road. I presume they've carved out some trails in the area too.

some grass track, endurocross and MX track from what I hear. I never raced last year, but will be down this year.

Last year's race was very fun, and comprised the following:
- an MX lap, then 120 acres of grass track, then an EX track spread out over a couple of acres (less challenging and less congested than the Red Bull Track at Wild Rose), then do it all over again.
- Pros made laps in under ten minutes, my laps were 13 minutes on the long side, my best lap was 11 minutes.
- Two one hour heats (A Heat 1, B Heat 1, A Heat 2, B Heat 2)

I saw facebook photos of a water pit this year... I suspect the course will be a little harder this year.

Two camping options:
1) Onsite there is a big grass field - think motocross pits - it was decent last year, better than the gravel parking lot at Grande Prairie.
2) Kinbrook Provincial Park http://www.albertaparks.ca/kinbrook-island.aspx
- this is about 15 minutes south of the MX Park and is much nicer camping (if you like Campground camping) but it is not free.

I was going to ask about the format. So it is who can do the most laps in a hr. How long was the break before the second heat? I am thinking of coming but not sure if I am in good enough shape.

Cool. I like the moto format. It's something different. Hopefully we'll use the motocross starting gate too.

I spotted this on the Brooks MX track Facebook page:


Counting a little extra time to complete your lap it sounds like roughly an hour break in between. Just enough time to wire/cable tie anything that broke off from the first moto.

I wish we knew what the ladies intermediate will be doing on the enduro x portion of the track.

Anyone know what kids expert/intermediate did last year? it'll likely be the same.
