CMRC / CMA Racing - Transponder Required?

Hey There,

I'm new to Alberta, and I'd like to enroll and compete in some XC / HS events this summer. Do most of these races use transponders? Do I need to provide one?

I couldn't find any info on either of the sites.

You just get a sticker with a barcode that goes on your helmet. It gets scanned each time you complete a lap. I think the references to transponders on the AMSA/CMRC websites are for motocross.
