Re: New season, new rider.

The engine case is back from Derek and I’m very satisfied with the quality of the work. Thanks Rogue for recommending him. If anyone ever breaks a case on a rock or has a something on the inside try to come out. I can now recommend Derek of Trillion Industries based on my own experience. He only had...

Re: Kook conditions

To add to Crazy2wheeler's question, how many studs did you put in each tire and what tires did you use? Did you lose any studs from the ride?

Re: Hot Topic

I’ll likely try jetting the bike a bit on the rich side to help it run cooler. I’ll also leave the counter balancer on the work bench to give the motor a bit faster rev. Synthetic oil to keep things slippery, and engine tolerances on the loose side, with the exception of the oil pump that I’ve tight...

Re: Hot Topic

How do the air heads, air cooled motors, hold up in the local woods? I know they aren't very common anymore but some are still around. I'll be bouncing through the woods on a DR350 until I get back in the swing of things and pick out a new scooter. Aside from proper jetting and good quality oil, do ...

Re: Hot Topic

I didn’t think that question would gather so much response. It seems clear that boilovers are avoidable with a bit of preparation done to the bike, either 2 or 4T. Thanks everyone for your input. Until I’m more familiar with local conditions and riding here, there will likely be many more questions ...

Hot Topic

It’s a bit early in the season to be asking this but I’ll throw it in anyway. With the tight woods riding in the area, how much of a problem is it for the liquid cooled bikes? Do the 4 strokes boil over more or less than the 2 stroke bikes? If overheating is a problem what is the better solution for...

Re: Bike Recommend

Since I'm also doing some tire kicking I'll pop in here and ask a follow up question. Do any of the local (Calgary) dealers ever have demo rides for customers to sample the dirt bikes? It's a bit of a leap of faith to drop down $8K on a new bike based on someones opinion, no matter how knowledgeable...

Re: New season, new rider.

Thanks for the warm welcome, and the info. I'll give Derek a call tomorrow. Hopefully he'll be able to weld up my case quickly. It shouldn't take long since the crack is not in a sealing area and there is no pressure on it. The previous owner had JB weld on it to seal it and it could be left that wa...

2Moto RadiX track kit test report

This past weekend I was given the opportunity to test ride a 2Moto RadiX equipped ’08 wr450. An exhilarating experience since the last time I rode a dirt bike was 1993. I have been riding street bikes but as we know there are differences, add in the snow factor and I was way out of my element. The r...

Re: New season, new rider.

Well, today I had the opportunity to test out the '08 wr450f with the 2moto track kit installed. A special thanks to Suzanne and Kevin for having me along for the ride. A very special thanks to Kevin for picking the bike off me when I fell over, it happened a lot, and for putting up with my arm pump...

Re: New season, new rider.

The choices seem to be very limited for 2 stroke bikes now. With only Yamaha making a showing from the Japanese makers and KTM still producing them, am I missing someone? I have nothing against the KTM, in fact I know nothing about them. They look like a good solid machine but seem a bit pricey for ...

Re: New season, new rider.

My last dirt bike was a '90 yz250, I found it was decent enough for me as it came out of the box. Properly set up suspension, still stock though with no mods, a pro-crcuit pipe, boysen reeds an air filter and good tires. That's all I needed to put a smile on my face. I wasn't a racer just an avid of...

Re: New season, new rider.

I know the extra lbs will drop off fast when riding. It's the recovery time I'm concered about. Having been off the dirt for so long I know I'll want to get out there and really pound it but if I'm not in shape for it I'll be on the sidelines more than what will be acceptable. Staying in shape was e...

Re: New season, new rider.

Thanks everyone for your info and warm welcome. I seen in the meeting section there is a meeting coming up, and if I understand it correctly it's open to non-members also. If that is in fact the case, I believe I'll try to get out and see what it's all about. Active, organized involvement in this ty...

New season, new rider.

Hello everyone, I’m a rider that’s been away from dirt riding for about 18 years and new to the area. Recently I purchased a very used DR350 to rebuild, in an effort to freshen up my tuning skills, and to ease me back into the sport. Originally I’m from northern Ontario where all my dirt riding expe...
