Re: Riding within 100 meters of a "waterbody"
And what's wrong with camping within 100m of a lake shore? Some of the best campsites I've ever seen have been within 100m of a lake, in Alberta and bc! Many lakes are surrounded with lakefront cottages, with owners fertilizing their lawns, drawing water from the lake, and have septic systems.... Ho...

You can't leave it at that! The heavy rain warning kept me from committing to the event, how was it?

Re: 2016 KTM 350 XCF setup
I don't understand why KTM went with rubber mounts. My old Suzuki DR 650 had rubber isolated bar mounts, they got tweaked in every tip over, and were a big pain to straighten out after almost every ride.

Riding within 100 meters of a "waterbody"
http://calgaryherald.com/news/local-news/alberta-officers-can-now-issue-fines-for-offences-on-public-lands Sooo, what does this mean for trail riding and racing in Alberta? I know lots of trails that are within 100 meters of a water body (the definition of waterbody is extremely broad and even inclu...

Re: 5 year old child Rider - Do we really need a plate on the bike
Looks like the traffic safety act may have changed, pretty sure there used to be a specific clause that exempted <50cc vehicles, but not anymore. Anyone interested can also look Alberta regulation 319/2012 (Off-highway vehicle regulation), for all the specific legal requirements for OHVs (lights,reg...

I really enjoyed this school last year, great instruction and a great venue, highly recommended!
I'd do it again this year, but I'm already booked on a different training session at the end of July.

Re: Will Porkies remain open for riding?
Reading that made my blood boil. The headline might as well be "land owners attempt massive public land grab in the Oldman watershed".
This bs from those residents is the same thing that stopped the annual Rocky Mountain Rally in the Porkies as well.

Re: CMRC Round 1 - The Lost Mountain Goat 100
It was loads of fun, but greasy, I struggled a fair bit in the muck. Interesting event for my first XC race. Funny how things that would be no problem on a casual trail ride get much harder when you ride for two+ hours with no rest, and the best lines are always littered with resting bikes and cursi...

Re: Porkies
AMSA is on Facebook. It was posted earlier today that the route is ready to go. I'm concerned with the rain forecast for Friday overnight into Saturday. Don't know what that means for the event. More details (and race poster) here: http://allisonchampagne.com/AMSA/OFFROAD/ The Facebook page has the ...

Re: Province Wide OHV Ban (Lifted May 13th)
Yeah, but under the "closures" tab it still says there is a province wide OHV ban in effect until further notice. Also it seems some areas are under a fire ban with no specific mention of OHV bans, other areas have fire bans in place and also state OHV bans. I remain confused, and annoyed.

Re: Dunlop bib mousse
Which michelins did you use, m14 in the rear and m16 in the front? And what do you mean by acceptable once broken in, as in too firm? Too stiff for McLean/fallen timber riding?

Dunlop bib mousse
Is there anywhere local (Calgary or Edmonton) that sells Dunlop bib mousse? I have 80/100-21 and 110/100-18 Dunlop mx32 tires on my 250 xcw that I'm thinking of trying some mousses on for some XC an HS racing this year. The Michelin sizing scares me, techno mousse is apparently garbage, so why not t...

Re: Filter Skins
On a multi day dusty ride with no return to base camp, multiple filter skins are great. From LA to Palmdale and back through the desert over 4 days, I used up 3 filter skins, and had just the filter itself on the last day. Each filter skin was fully caked with dust at the end of each day. You do nee...

Another option is CJ Campbell in Edmonton. They are very bike friendly. 780-484-1326
