Re: Shale Shaker

What's a good amount of time to budget for the trip down? Looking at the directions it seems like it isn't too far away... But I've never been there.

Need a skidplate in a hurry? No problem...

On Saturday I tore the skid plate off my bike on a ride in Waiporus. Don't know where it happened on the trail, so it's likely gone for good. Problem was, I needed a skid plate for my ride on Monday. My solution turned out so well I thought I'd share. :smirk: http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w37/m...

I think I'll give it a go. Is it really on Saturday? What class are you going in?

Porky's HS

Anyone going out to the harescramble this weekend? Is it at the same spot as the crosscountry?

Weather looks good and I'm looking forward to finally making it out for a race this year.

Welding/ fab work

Does anyone have a recommendation for a welding/fabrication shop? I recently replaced the box on my Toyota pickup with a flat deck (if you've seen the truck you know why), but the mounting brackets don't fit the mounts closest to the cab. I can't stick my bike on it as-is, so hopefully I can get it ...

Re: Christy Mines Cancelled - Riviere's Revenge Now Replacin

I'm planning to go to this one. Really enjoyed it last year. I hope the weather forecast improves though... Some of the sections would be pretty tough in the rain.

Re: Helmet recommendations

Thanks for all the info!

I went down to blackfoot direct after work today to try out the HJC. It was ok. Price seems good and it is pretty light. Doesn't seem like there's much venting though. Didn't care for the color schemes they had in stock either, so I took a pass.

Re: Helmet recommendations

Interesting. It would be nice to get one locally and support a shop that's on the forum. Looks like the price online is $377-$425 though... Are all air models the same with different graphics?

Helmet recommendations

CMA requires a snell 2010 rated helmet to participate in the races, so I need a new lid.

Any recommendations for something reasonably light in the up-to-$300 range?

I was considering the Fly F2 Carbon. Anyone have this helmet already?

Which valve shim to use....

I'm in the middle of a valve adjustment, and I'm wondering about which shim to use when I seem to be in between sizes. I think being on the tight side of "in-spec" is better than loose, but maybe I'm over thinking it. The valve in question had .087mm clearance (should be .1-.15) and a 182 shim under...

Re: Creating a Small Tool Roll

Thanks for the ideas guys! Is there any advantage to the liquid JB quick over the stick-type stuff I have now? I like the solid stuff because it is less messy and sets up pretty solid in about 10mins. I'll have to see how small mini vise grips are. Seems like they wouldn't fit in the package and I w...
