I took my KLR 650 3000 kms through the state of Oregon on the back of the motorhome with mine. They have a bit of play so I usually put extra straps to the vehicle for long hauls. Decent cheap hauler.

Delorme is bigger, but it is a 2 way communicator on the Irridium sat network, spot is on global star and has only certain times it works. These devices dont call 911, so response times can be longer. it is better to have your messaging sent to someone reliable that can call for the appropriate help...

I have an enclosed trailer but sometimes us a receiver hitch rack. They are available at princess auto and costco online has one as well. depending on what you are driving this might be an option for you.
