Re: Bighorn Country Gov. Survey

Here's a letter from the AOHVA with some info on how to help, for those interested.

Re: Bighorn Country Gov. Survey

Geoff, where did you find that picture? If this is supposed to be a proposal/consultation period how can they post closure signs already? That picture was emailed to an associate, apparently from the Cardinal river area AB. Near here: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Alexis+Cardinal+234,+Yellowhea...

GUESS WHAT EVERYBODY! MORE PARKS! https://albertaparks.us15.list-manage.com/track/click?u=39334df5237d062bac5cda4c6&id=e8b46f68cd&e=646120c97b This is like a slow car crash, if I've ever seen one. Never mind stewardship or conservation, who is going to pay for all this? I mean the Bighorn plan alone...

Re: A New Chapter -KTM 690 Set Up

Good report, keep em coming. How did the Mitas tire hold up? It looks really good so far, although I only put about 250 km on it. I have low expectations for wear, and am usually pretty hard on the rear tire :smirk: I wore out an MT21 in 1200 km, so if I get even 800 from this I'm happy. It looks l...

Re: Neck braces- not a opinion article

Thanks Alex, a very interesting article. I'm a big believer in braces, and have had some crashes with them on that convinced me they prevented further injury. Pretty tough to dispute the math, on a study that only looks at motorcycle injuries.

Re: Bighorn Country Gov. Survey

Well the grab is well under way, don't forget to get involved. Bighorn Wildland Dec 12.jpg If you want to be part of the "consultation" here is a chance: This is the message: Hi this is Shannon Phillips minister for Alberta environment and parks I can be reached at 1-877-770-4636 or by email at aep....

Re: A New Chapter -KTM 690 Set Up

Do you have the ability to incorporate the counter balancers from the revised engines? I imagine that would help a lot with highway comfort and vibration. The new head from the 16 + Duke & 17 + Husqvarna 701 (and 2019 KTM 690 BTW) is not really doable from what I understand. The new style goes for ...

Re: A New Chapter -KTM 690 Set Up

Now for some pics of the fun... This bike flat out rules for the versatility it offers. I have railed single track with it, and blasted down highways. I honestly would be hard pressed to name a spot I wouldn't take it, although it is nowhere near as easy or fast to ride in the gnar. Crossing Snowdri...

Re: A New Chapter -KTM 690 Set Up

For some of the adventures on this bike the limiting factor isn't so much the weight but the DOT tires. The front strangely seems really well planted , on a tire I can almost surely say wouldn't work on my 450. Again, I assume the weight of the bike , and how it's carried must be a factor. For the l...

Re: Bighorn Country Gov. Survey

Well, I'll try to assume the role of de facto land use guy  This survey for the Bighorn Back country is the end (start? ) of a long, difficult road any OHV group has been down since this current Government came to power. I withheld comment previously, as I really prefer to not get involved...

Re: New Trail closure within Mclean

I plan to contact AEP first thing next week, and will report back here with the results. Disheartening how stake holders are completely absent from any part of this process. These are not public lands, they seem to be treated as AEP lands, for them to distribute access as they see fit. I for one wil...

Re: A New Chapter -KTM 690 Set Up

I have to say, riding this bike has been a blast. With the mods almost done, it was time for some luggage. I settled on the Wolfman E-12 for a couple reasons. They're the size I need for adventuring/maybe 1-2 nights, and they're soft bags which is important for off-roading. They open almost fully wi...
