Re: Flat Track race Aug 18th in Strathmore
Thanks! That was a fun event. I was second fastest in qualifying and got second in the heat, so grabbing the win in the main was pretty sweet. Not exactly the most populated class - but I'll take it. :smirk: I'll post a video and maybe write up some info later in case someone else is interested in t...

Re: Flat Track race Aug 18th in Strathmore
You're right -probably faster to unbolt the whole thing than remove my lever even. Any ideas how to cover my footpegs with rubber? I was thinking I might just slide a big piece of hose on them - or cut a hockey puck to fit inside. I don't actually understand why this is necessary since I don't have ...

Flat Track race Aug 18th in Strathmore
There's a flat track race practically in my backyard this weekend. I figure I might give it a try. Has anyone on the forum done this before? Seems like the kind of discipline that might have some cross-pollination with offroad. There's a knobby tire class - sounds like the only changes I need to mak...

Re: DirtyMoose "the 13th" teaser
I'm looking forward to this. Might be nice to have a break from the "extreme" scrambles and "extreme" cross countries and push some air through my radiators.

Do you lube your throttle tube?
I was watching this video about servicing the throttle on the Racer X website: https://racerxonline.com/2018/07/25/factory-tech-tip-how-to-service-a-throttle-tube . The mechanic lubes the throttle tube with grease and oil. Just curious, is that common practice around these parts? I don't use any lub...
Re: Fan Kit
Just my two cents: The comments above are correct. A rad cap is a band-aid whereas the fan is the cure. However, I'd consider how often the boiling occurs and whether it could be helped with jetting before spending the cash for a fan kit. If you boil on every trail ride, then yeah, you probably need...

Re: Any cheap spark arrestor options?
I don't think BC actually has specific requirements for spark arrestors. I tried finding any publications, legislation and regulations on the topic and didn't get far. After contacting the Ministry and Conservation office for details, the only response I got was: Thank you for your enquiry Jared, I ...
Re: Fan Kit
Make sure your coolant is topped up all the way - it boils over faster if you're a little low. A higher pressure rad cap can help too and is a lot cheaper than a fan kit.

Re: Panorama Harescramble 2018
Thanks Dobi. That's reassuring about security. I checked google maps and saw the hotel just has outdoor gravel parking and started to worry. Boodle2: yes, you can sign up the sevening before or the morning of the race. The AMSA offroad website has details about the times registration is open - https...

Panorama Harescramble 2018
I've never been to this race. What's it like? How long can I expect the loop to be? What's cutoff? How is the terrain? Also, any tips for securing your bike overnight while staying at a hotel? I'm driving there the day before, planning to stay at the "Pine Inn" Friday night. I have 50' of transport ...

Re: KTM Brake Pedal - 2016 KTM 350XCF
No. I have a 16 KTM 350 too. The stocker still looks good at ~80hrs.
Maybe yours is bent out a bit? Or maybe my TMD skidplate helps redirect hits? Maybe try a brake snake?
How is yours breaking? E.g. where it bolts to the lever or does the tip snap elsewhere.

Looks to be a pretty rainy day there today. We shall see how it dries up by Saturday.

Porcupine Hills XC - 2018
Seems like this race snuck up on me! Just curious if anyone has ridden in the area this spring and can provide a trail condition report. With the heat we've been having, is it safe to assume Porkies is all dried out? Forecast looks pretty good as far as I'm concerned - but we will see how it plays o...

Re: 2019 KTM News
interesting, interesting....
5- speed transmission for the 350 xcf.
Hour-meter is included and mounted to the triple clamps? Neat.
Not sure if I like the plastic color scheme yet. I'll need to see it with a rider. Seems like a mostly white bike that turns orange just at the front.

Re: Any cheap spark arrestor options?
I did! Lo and behold, there's a screen in there that looks suspiciously like a spark arrestor. I should have snapped a photo.
