Re: UCP pitches $30 permit fees for trail users if elected

$30 should apply to all public lands / backcountry users, even the "ravers", might dissuade the sh_t rats from even leaving town in the 1st place.

Re: Neck Braces

Helmet choice will also impact neck brace selection. Not being able to look “up” puts a lot off folks off braces, which is sort of the point of the brace... The Atlas has a lower profile than the Leatt, I have both. If using a conventional helmet , the Atlas and other lower styles might be more suit...

Re: Trailer vs Toy Hauler

I rarely hitch up anymore, 4wd moto-creeper van love. IMG_1035.jpg Doesn't really answer your question, but with that many bikes and bodies, I think the toyhauler is the way to go. More security in the city and en route, flexibility to load up night before and maybe unload the day after a late return.

Re: Suggestions on who to call to remove this screw? Machine Shop?

I have had occasional success pounding a suitably sized sacrificial torx head driver into mangled set screws, heat the surrounding boss before attempting.

Re: Early season bike trip ideas?

Moab and green river/San Rafael are ok in april, also lower elevation Colorado routes are passable. Baja Mexico is also doable but getting warm. Never tried Arizona or Nevada or California but options there as well.

Re: Crimp Style Fuel Hose Clamps

in the absence of a suitable oetiker clamp, the parts stores often have stainless "fuel line" clamps that will work.

Re: Indian Graves / Livingstone

Government map only shows two bits of "singletrack" one south of dutch creek and one east of racehorse. The term singletrack is used euphemistically as often it is old lease road... All the other old historic loops are now “off limits", caveat emptor. http://aep.alberta.ca/recreation-public-use/recr...

Penny Tech - bib mousse longevity

To either extend the service life of a used mousse, or firm up the feel in larger carcass tires, I have been adding closed cell foam strips (common at hardware stores in the insulation section) to the drop center of the rim. IMG_0620.jpg Does require a bit more finagling of technique at bib changes ...

Re: Where to take forks?

Professionals deserve to be paid for their time and overhead and consumables... I would think $300-400 is in the ball park for walking them into a shop. WR450 of that vintage should be open cartridge KYB. With some basic tooling (cap tool, rod holder and a real seal driver, ~$100, vice covers are ni...

Re: McLean Forest Fire

We rode out of S Fisher Sunday, stayed east and north on account of the fire, we staged at 10:30 and when we crossed back from Fisher West to the east side, about 3pm that junction was swarming with RCMP and CO's. 3 of us made into the bush before they could get out of the trucks AC, but being last,...

Penny Tech silencer repack

Noticed during a function check last night, that the XC was a bit snappy and loud. Given the hours, I assumed the packing was likely soiled. Since I was elbows deep in the garage, I decided to repack. However, no repacking kit on hand on a Sunday evening... Well, did you know the Home Depot has ente...
