Re: greasing KTM starter

I did this on one of my last 300's. It worked OK, but would just opt to grease it 1-2 times a year. If you do, here are some tips... Do not over fill the oil, as all of the extra will blow out of the breather. Make sure your breather line is routed up high and back down and does not kinked. If it ki...

Re: Laser Cutting

I have had lots of work done there...great shop. Their water jet should rip 3mm through acrylic. Should be able to cut 150-200 inches/min or more (if it can move that fast) Machine goes for ~$180-200/hour if I recall correctly. If you can make your own .dxf file will be your cheapest option, as it s...

Anyone intersted in some autobody work

I am working on a 1951 Mercury truck and am wondering if anyone out there in the auto body world is interested in some extra cash? I have done all of the metal repairs and have blasted and nearly have everything in a coat of epoxy and 2 coats of high build primer. Next step is putting together all t...

Anyone going to Edmonton?

I have a couple doors off my 1950's Ford truck I'd like to send to RMC Industries Ltd (6207 - 76 Ave). Going to have them acid dipped to remove inner rust. Anyone going up there in the next few weeks? Will be happy to pay for fuel/time to help me out, just don't want to make a special trip to haul t...

Re: Tire Disposal

I took mine to my local tire shop and asked if I could toss them in their pile. They were ok with it, as their used tires are picked up under the tire recycling program.
The tire recycling throw and go is a good option, but found this is much more convenient.

Re: Lots of Shooting Activity

Good to see that was closed off... If it is the one I am thinking of, there's a heck of a mess there too. I camped out at the South PRA during the trailblazer weekend. There were a couple young men shooting a shotgun at the abandoned well site. I rode up talked to them, just letting them know shooti...

Re: Two questions piston and gearing?

All good comments above... I run 13-52 gearing on my 350 XCF and really like it. For the tight trails we have here in Ghost and Mclean, is a good fit to get more out of 1st and 2nd gear. As for top end service. I'd agree the 50 hours to replace piston/rings is for severe service. There will be lots ...

Re: Tires

Tire pressure is critical...the best tire in the world doesn't work well in a place like McLean if it is over inflated. I run the Bridgestone Ultra heavy wall tubes. Depending on how stiff the tire carcass is I run 3-5 psi in the rear and 10 psi front and haven't had a flat in a years (knock on wood...

Re: Lots of Shooting Activity

Great post and point of view Shibby...I think you hit the nail on the head... Totally agree that in general the PLUZ areas are a poor/unsafe areas to be shooting. There's more of them all the time and convincing people of that is another issue. To me the moral of the story is that given l...

Re: @#$! KTM fan kit temperature switches

I wired in an manual override switch for the fan on my 350 XCF. I have had a wire come off the thermo-switch a few times, so use it to check that it works and switch it to manual when riding hard terrain. I wired it to supply a ground, so if wire gets shorted out the fail safe is that the fan runs. ...

Re: Lots of Shooting Activity

It is Legal to discharge a firearm "Safely" on crown lands, but from there is where the lines get blurry. I believe and have observed that the majority of those shooting on Crown land want to do it safely and respect other users. I have talked to several shooters and generally are very good at choos...

Granberg Small Log Mill

Was wondering if one of these would have merit for cutting slabs for bridge decks out in the woods? http://granberg.com/product/small-log-mill" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I have built a few log bridges and am always amazed at how many logs it takes to make a bridge. Looks to be li...
