I have heard similar comments from others who have installed sub tanks. They really do seem to work well when you're looking for plushness on the initial part of the stroke. A friend installed them on his woods converted KX250F, the difference was very noticeable. I don't know what year your YZ is. ...

The 98 RM didn’t have a power jet carb so there should be an electrical connection to your’s. If there is then it must have been swapped out at some point. That said there is no reason that the carb couldn’t be made to work on your bike if jetted appropriately. I think you’re heading down the right ...
