Re: Vega HS vid 2012

Wow. I can't believe how just watching that got my heart pumping and stomach churning! Thanks, Howard!

Re: 2011 Dirtier Moose Race

Wow. What a course. The terrain, elevation changes, scenery, and all while racing. (I really like that campground, too.) This was a spectacular event last year made even better this year. Many thanks to the crew for setting up the loops and for the overall length of the course--I had no more race le...

Re: Christie Mine Madness HS

Matthew's motivated to go, so he called the number on the poster. Tricia told him that that riding is allowed outside of race hours, just not on the race course. She also said the whether is looking good and to please come on out. So, sounds great!

Re: Man Made Obstacles in H/S and X/C racing

Haha, I like your list of choices in the survey! In any case, this is a great discussion to have prior to the 2011 AGM. Page 1 of our Off-Road Rulebook provides simple defintions of XC, HS, and EX events that the club reps tweaked slightly at the 2010 AGM. More detailed definitions are probably warr...

Re: Christie Mine Madness HS

Does anybody know about camping and free-riding? Private or public land? It's a long way for the family of four to come from Stony Plain if only our three racers can ride and then only during the race. i.e. Are we looking at 30 man-hours of travel for 7 man-hours of riding? I just don't know anythin...

Re: Christie Mine Madness HS

Yes, it would be great to know what the course is like, particularly with the 100mm of rain they had last week!

Re: Porkies XC

Shelby Update (all my info is third-hand, through Matthew and Susan): Shelby says it has a fluky mistake and she should have been going faster. Apparently, she hit a root, slid out, flew off of the bike, and landed on a stump (to the gut). Tab stayed with her and was pretty worried for the first hou...

Re: BUMP Cancelled

So much snow this winter that it's a swamp on the West side of the road. It's too bad, as the East side of the road is pretty good right now, with only a couple wet sections to bypass, and the MX track is great, too.

Re: CMRC Rules

There's no need to party that late, Mike. If we stick to margaritas, we can have everybody destroyed while it's still PM (before all those KTMs turn into pumkins).

Re: CMRC Rules

Looks like I'm off the hook for the offer I made to do off-season scoring system (re-) programming. I've been officially out-geeked! I had best stick to the field of blender technology. Thanks for chasing this down, Dobi. It's good to have a logical explanation for the glitch and what looks like an ...

Re: CMRC Rules

Hey, Mike, it's good that you got this discussion going. And a special thanks to Howard for his key post. With Howard knowing that he followed Derek into the first check, we can be certain that there is an error in the printed lap detail. As Derek suggests, it looks like a transposition error in his...

Thanks to the RMDRA for such a fun B Loop. Although the last hill was clearly too much for the beginners and some juniors (and me the second time, with all the downed traffic), this B Loop was my favourite of the season, with Smith a close runner-up! Like Smith, the Grizzly was so much fun because o...

I have to thank you, Derek, for being such a sport and throwing yourself upsidedown into that skeg. It saved me both the effort of reeling you in (again) and executing the infamous junior-style "pass'n'crash" (again). The first lap incident went like this: "He's going a bit slow--I think I'll pass N...
