Westhills / Dillons Diggs

Anybody ride the Westhills or Diggs trails lately? I haven't been on them in years and I'm wondering if they've become bushwackers.

Re: Tourism Industry Association of Alberta - Park and Crown Land Survey

Edit: Nevermind, I figured it out. They use the same choices regardless of regional regulations. The wording in this survey is confusing: National Parks are managed by the federal government of Canada. 9. Please indicate how frequently you visited National Parks in the South Saskatchewan Region? Th...

Re: Large open field south of 5k stage?

Thanks Braap. I've never actually been in that area but this weekend I did see there's signage up saying no motorized vehicles allowed. Fair enough, I'm just glad there are signs there. I'm more than happy to comply with all the regs. The area I was parked at before had no such signage and I see peo...

Large open field south of 5k stage?

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if that large open area on the east side of the gravel road just south of the 5k staging area is illegal to use? My son has a little KTM 50 electric bike and that looks like a safe spot for him to putt around in while I kick back in a lawn chair. The reason I ask is...

Re: Grizzly Trail Logging

We rode Horizon yesterday, we found where the trail joined. It's not too bad, there is a short section of logging road but then you can hop back on. It looks like they are working on cleaning up the entrance so that it is more evident. A trail intersection sign would help out. Thanks for the info. ...

Re: Grizzly Trail Logging

Things are happening fast out there so I'm just hoping for some clarification: Horizon South is - gone or preserved? Horizon North is - gone or preserved? Swany's is getting logged but the trail is going to be preserved? Jonny 2 Skidoos is going to be gone? Outlaw and That 70's are going to be - go...

Re: Grizzly Trail Logging

In order for SLS to operate in McLean they have to preserve any designated trails. So the answer to all of your listed trails is they will be preserved with the exception of Outlaw & That 70's Trail. I am waiting for a reply from Takethebounce in regards to the ribbon he has referenced because acco...

Re: Grizzly Trail Logging

Fair enough. It's definitely better as managed deforestation rather than forest fire destroying everything. Thanks Boland.

Grizzly Trail Logging

I rode out of South Fisher this weekend but when driving through I saw almost the entire SW face from just past the camp office to about 3k is all logged. Is Grizzly Trail gone now? Trail marker 78 to 228? I guess if the trails are preserved it's better than having a massive fire but I'm kinda bumme...

Re: Mclean/Waiparous Conditions for the weekend

I was out for a drive there today and there isn't a lot of snow, but the low lying areas are very wet. Re: UCP pitches $30 permit fees for trail users if elected

Okay, now that Kenny is in, how do we ensure this plan moves forward? The AOHVA has been working very closely with the UPC for the last couple of years. The AOHVA could not even get a phone call returned from the NDP Gov., so they put all their eggs in one basket so too speak in hoping the UPC would...

Re: UCP pitches $30 permit fees for trail users if elected

Is $30 enough? I kinda like what they have done at Bear Creek in Kelowna. I believe it's $75 for a season pass or $15/day for day use. I'm not trying to reach into everyone's wallet but Bear Creek seems pretty well run if you ask me. In any case, me and my buds would gladly pay to keep riding areas ...
