Re: So long for now - heading back to the US
Thanks for all the kind words - I know it's a long haul, but I've always got a spare bedroom or two - I'll be in northeast Pennsylvania for the next year and a half, and back in eastern Oklahoma after that. Both have excellent riding (and a completely different character) - come visit and ride. Brin...

So long for now - heading back to the US
Just a note to tell everyone so long - my power plant project in Pennsylvania has been moved up, so I'm headed back to the US sooner than I expected. I'd like to thank everyone for the fantastic welcome to Calgary and to the RMDRA - everyone went out of their way to make me feel at home. I was a del...

Re: New guy!
You're certainly in the right place - I came here from the south central US (Oklahoma) for a work project and joined the club to meet other riders and get the scoop on where to play - the folks here have made me feel absolutely at home and welcome. Come to the swap meet Mar 6 and meet a few people i...

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder Diameters / Lever Ratios
Hi Robert - Part numbers for the m/c piston and for the levers are the same from 2013 to 2014 250SX and 350SXF- so, no change. A smaller diameter piston would produce more pressure but would take more lever travel to move the same amount of fluid - i.e. engagement/disengagement would be more gradual...

Re: GPS? Recommendations?
I'm pretty happy with my Garmin Oregon 450 - big enough screen to be usable, easy to mount - it's taken a couple hits and seems pretty durable, too. About my only complaint is the tendency to drop a pin when using the touch screen - I just ignore 'em and delete them when I get home.

Re: Annual AGM (and awards night)
See you there - on Friday I leave for 6 weeks at home to ride the Ozark mountains in Oklahoma and Arkansas (winter is our premiere riding season - it's too hot in the summer), then return in late January to stay until June or July. For those who can't come, thanks for making me feel at home and I ca...

Re: Sand Riding for the Winter
It's closer than Moab, but still a long haul - the Owyhee desert area just west of Boise, Idaho is excellent in winter. It's typical desert terrain - some sand washes, some rock gardens, some high desert mountain, but you can ride two or three days a week for a couple winters without getting complet...

Re: buying tires in Calgary
Thanks, Guys - also - thanks to everyone for a great weekend at Koocanusa - I had a blast. It's certainly different from McLean or Fallen Timber - I wouldn't want to ride there exclusively, but it was fun to be able to let that 500 breathe a little, and charging hard in the soft stuff brought back s...

buying tires in Calgary
I'm not sure if this is the right forum - sorry if not - Where's the cheapest place in Calgary to buy off road tires off the shelf? (I don't have time to order something, so they need to have a decent selection in stock.) Second question - is there any place in Calgary that recycles the old ones? If...

Re: Trucks broken into in Mclean
I was parked in that exact spot both days - by the outhouse on the paved loop. I do take my phone, wallet, keys, etc with me, but I'm not sure that would deter them from breaking in just to check - Sucks, for sure report it to the RCMP - even if they can't do anything about your stuff, they need to ...

photos of trail maintenance needed
Anyone have photos of trail work repairing erosion damage, bridge building, etc? I'm looking for pictures showing "responsible trail use" for a US group fighting to preserve access to the trails.

Re: Found some Trelleborg winter tires
Hi Malcolm - I'd like to do some winter riding on studs this year, but will probably bring tires I already have back from Oklahoma and stud them myself - I'd be interested in some joint stud purchases, though.

Re: Fork seals. My new bike already having problems...
I forgot the XC has closed cartridge forks - you're right about bleeding them on a stand, but they do need bled regularly. Unwanted air pressure makes the newer seals even more prone to weep.
