Re: KTM xc/xcw starter issue

Interestingly, Jeff Slavens states that he developed the wet mod it for a customer but does not like it or use it on his own bikes. He cleans and regreases yearly. https://slavensracing.com/shop/2015-bendix-crown-wheel-upgrade-kit-for-ktm-husaberg-husqvarna-200250300/ He even gives KTM props for th...

Re: KTM xc/xcw starter issue

Slavens has a more recent video essentially denouncing his previous wet mod video. He did not find the wet mod worth it and advises people to just clean and grease it regularly. The title of the video is “how to service the KTM 250/300 e-starter gear drive”.

Re: I need to borrow a clutch basket tool

Use an impact to remove the nut but use a torque wrench when putting in back on. I put the bike in 6th gear and put a 2x4 in the spokes to lock the wheel against the swing arm when torquing it.

Re: Bike Registration

I've ran into that. They needed bill of sale with the vin on it and I had to take the bike to the registry so they could physically verify the vin.

Re: Valve Cover Bolts

Thanks for the Tips Fellas After some research, reading up on some threads and time and cost factored in I'm going to go with HeliCoils. This was also what was recommended by my mechanic who did the rebuild last year. Will update after completion in a week or so when I get back from Edmonton. Just ...

Re: Safe, Secure on Trail, in Camp

I use a In Reach device from Delorme satellite communicator. Has proven to be very handy but costs even when not in use. I have enough tools to fix a broken chain, flat tires, spare levers, spare shifter, miscellaneous nuts and bolts, tie straps, duct tape, grip wire, electrical tape, wrenches, All...

Re: Safe, Secure on Trail, in Camp

Most use a camelback with storage for tools. For tools I keep sockets, wrenchs, screwdrivers, zip ties, tire spoons and various other stuff. I do carry a small first aid kit as well. When camping I use a big chain and lock (1/4" I think). My chain and lock woukd be extremely difficult to cut by...
