Re: Best Fuel

Removing ethanol from fuel will lower the octane rating, so if you do so make sure you are using premium fuel first. I believe a two to three point drop in the RON is expected if you remove the ethanol. This bio fuel initiative makes zero sense of the ethanol is sourced from corn or wheat. The carbo...

Re: Midwest Clutch

I’ve used them pretty much exclusively on every Beta I have owned. I have smallish hands and stock Brembo levers always hit my fingers before the clutch disengaged with the lever reach in a decent spot. The MME lever is great for one finger operation and works for two finger as well when fatigue set...

Re: Best FRONT tire for GripStuds? +experience with Mitas XT-434 vs. Mitas C-17?

I’ve run a bunch of different fronts for winter riding. I usually just throw studs in whatever front tire is on my winter bike and run it. IRC M1A - best I have used for conditions with deeper snow. Michelin S12XC - works well as long as you stay away from rocks. Michelin Starcross Medium - same as ...

Re: McLean trail conditions

I just got back from McLean. Still lots of snow. I rode Police and Fire Games, Blaudo (I think?) Grizzly and Horizons mainly. There are some dangerous sections but traction wasn’t bad for the conditions. The water holes are full of ice and can bite you bad if you aren’t careful. Trails at the 5km s...

Re: DirtyMoose "the 13th" teaser

Just wanted to thank everyone that made this race possible. This was definitely the best Dirty Moose that I have experienced (first was in 2012). The main course was amazing with a great blend of challenges and flow that made this the race the best of the season (perhaps of all I have done). I’m not...

Re: Studs yet?

Was out in McLean on Saturday and aside from some icy sections in the shady areas, trails were in excellent shape. Hoping to make it back out this week!

Re: That tire thing again ...

My input from another tire thread: I run the Tubliss system, both front and rear, in all three of my bikes. I've been using Tubliss since 2012 and have only experienced one high pressure bladder failure, which was due to 'operator error'. I have experienced a few tire flats while using them and have...

A lesson from this past race weekend...

Carry spare clutch and brake levers. Spare sets can be bought for cheap and weigh next to nothing. I won't ride without a spare set now.

Re: Kamloops Riding Area Map

I was looking at some vids of trails around Duffy Lake and they all seem quite easy, nothing challenging. With all the riding we do on difficult, challenging terrain of S Alberta, everything else seems ..... too easy. Duffy/Greenstone has tons of challenging trails. Most people that ride th...

I've run a 120, 130 and a 140/80-18. I have found that the 130 works best for me and my horribly slow riding technique.

Re: Black lung XC and HS

The Black Lung is down in the Crowsnest area. Not sure of the exact staging area though. CMRC schedule is up on AMSA website, CXCC schedule is up on World Enduro Canada website and PNWMA schedule is finally up as well. http://www.amsamx.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://www.w...
