Re: Penny Tech (TM) - KTM AC lighting circuit - cheap DC power

Folks have asked for a wiring diagram. Here’s an attempt.

Re: Midwest Clutch

I tried it and didn't like the engagement of it. My 7yr old daughter(at the time) could pull the clutch in, but it never felt right. You have to be careful on adjustment with them. They run on the edge of slipping and if you get the clutch hot on a hill climb it just gets worse until you stop and b...

Re: Midwest Clutch

I had on on my 14 TE250, worked ok but if I really abused the clutch the engagement point moved and it slipped - not sure if related to the Midwest lever or just a general clutch issue. So far not required on my 15XC. Ride a jap cable clutch for a bit and you wont complain about the KTM hydraulic at...

Re: KTM xc/xcw starter issue

Most 4 stroke stators circulate oil wet iirc, as long as you don't fill it too much an create windage, should be OK. Given the inspection frequency mandated by the bushing wear rate, I'd be inclined to keep it dry and greased to facilitate that. Maybe the freeride has different guts? Still got the e...

Re: GoPro evaluations

I have a "joe-pro" Cyclops GoPro knock off, a gift from my riding buddies who wanted better documentation of the thrills and spills and resultant tourette's outbreaks. Works alright, uses GoPro parts, but the batteries die quickly in the cold. I wish it was smaller, to mount under the helm...

Re: KTM xc/xcw starter issue

2 more rides. Still have not kicked it once.
Edit: let me clarify, have not had to kickstart it. Kicking, well, it was a lazy bike and wouldn’t stay upright :D

Re: Penny Tech Gear repair

I use the iron on steam with an ironing board, and so far, I don't really sit the iron in one spot, have not melted or burnt any gear.
Using up the last of the denim patches on bar mitt holes... Raggedy Andy out.

Penny Tech shroud/panel repair

Less than a km into weekend priors ride, (well "ride" is likely being a bit generous as a description) my bike decided to take a quick nap, coming to rest very abruptly on a rock jutting out of the sidehill. Given the temperatures, the rad shroud shattered. While I have a new set of plasti...

Re: Winter riding, radiator cover

Worked well again yesterday, bike much happier.
As ambient temperatures rose later in the ride it started to creep up to yellow on climbs, folded the cover in half, jammed it back in, back to the top of green the whole way out.
Bit more adjustable than duct tape but that works too.

Winter bar mitt sliders

My bikes sport bar mitts most winter rides, aka “commit-mitts”. However, I’d destroy a set well before the end of a season, crashing those errant trees. So, I cut a used oil gallon oil container into strips and bolted it on the the mitts into the bark busters underneath, using the summer buster defl...

Penny Tech: KYB to WP spring shock collar adapter

Needed a 6.0 rear spring for my new to me ktm xc. Had KYB 6.0 kicking off my yammie, it was the correct free length but a bit too large of an inner diameter. Buddy informs me they do make adapter collars, but... Of course, I’m trying to get the bike together late on a Friday night for a test ride th...
