Re: Anyone heading to Montana Soon?

My USA purchases are generally items I cannot get here, and are infrequent: I try to give the local vendors 1st crack at supplying.

Re: Anyone tried prescription goggle inserts?

Jared, I have the powered humidistat fan thingie, the same one, but branded by 509. It some goggles it works well, old set of 509's, Scotts, others it does not sense the humidity and leads to fog (new 509, 100%). As well it blocks the airflow out the top of the goggle so you become completely depend...

Re: Penny Tech shroud/panel repair

An update on this repair. It held for 2 rides, then I cut the zip tie off, and the panels worked loose from the adhesive. To be fair, the shroud was fairly chowdered, and upon inspection some of the adhesive was still not set up, as I had quickly slapped it on the bike in the cold. So, trying versio...

Penny Tech - refurbished grip stud installation tool

Overdue to pull my studs out of the old tire and build a new one. Went to grab my box of studs and tools, and discovered I only had one decent 4800 installation bit left, out of about 5, the others were all chowdered out... on a Sunday of course. Namely the bit “tangs” that insert to the stud keyway...

"It rubs the lotion on its skin" (and uses the standing workstation post ride)

Each speed hole adds 1mph on the top end. Might need more.

Penny Tech (TM) Acerbis X seat Gen 1 brace plate weight loss

Acquired an Acerbis X seat with my 15 XC250. It is the original version, these things will grip your bum like a lowland gorilla in mating season, and depending on your man-scaping habits, post-ride will make your under layers look like a squirrel died in 'em. However, they are not any lighter than a...

Re: Midwest Clutch

I tried it and didn't like the engagement of it. My 7yr old daughter(at the time) could pull the clutch in, but it never felt right. You have to be careful on adjustment with them. They run on the edge of slipping and if you get the clutch hot on a hill climb it just gets worse until you stop and b...

Re: Midwest Clutch

I had on on my 14 TE250, worked ok but if I really abused the clutch the engagement point moved and it slipped - not sure if related to the Midwest lever or just a general clutch issue. So far not required on my 15XC. Ride a jap cable clutch for a bit and you wont complain about the KTM hydraulic at...

Re: KTM xc/xcw starter issue

Most 4 stroke stators circulate oil wet iirc, as long as you don't fill it too much an create windage, should be OK. Given the inspection frequency mandated by the bushing wear rate, I'd be inclined to keep it dry and greased to facilitate that. Maybe the freeride has different guts? Still got the e...

Re: GoPro evaluations

I have a "joe-pro" Cyclops GoPro knock off, a gift from my riding buddies who wanted better documentation of the thrills and spills and resultant tourette's outbreaks. Works alright, uses GoPro parts, but the batteries die quickly in the cold. I wish it was smaller, to mount under the helm...

Re: KTM xc/xcw starter issue

2 more rides. Still have not kicked it once.
Edit: let me clarify, have not had to kickstart it. Kicking, well, it was a lazy bike and wouldn’t stay upright :D

Re: Penny Tech Gear repair

I use the iron on steam with an ironing board, and so far, I don't really sit the iron in one spot, have not melted or burnt any gear.
Using up the last of the denim patches on bar mitt holes... Raggedy Andy out.
