Re: I need to borrow a clutch basket tool

Thanks for the tips. It sounds like the broomstick in the spokes is foolproof. I do have one more quick question regarding the clutch basket. I am in the process of grinding the rivets on the original to separate the primary gear and basket. The new basket came with bolts that require red loc tite a...

I need to borrow a clutch basket tool

Does anyone have a clutch basket tool for a KTM I could borrow? I have all the parts sitting on my bench (inner and outer baskets, clutch plates) ready to go in next week when the weather warms up a bit. Failing the tool does anyone have a tip on holding the basket while torquing the nut? Lastly I o...

Is this accelerated plan the result of SLS being shut out of the Castle? Got to feed the mill somehow?

Re: compression testing a 2 stroke

250 should be between 165 and 195 depending on model and modifications. I think the 300 is very similar. I have mine tuned up for 195 when new and when it drops below 190 I replace the rings. Second time gets Piston, rings, wrist pin and bearing. But maybe I'm over cautious. :D Maybe not. I got laz...

Want KTM 300 main crank bearing (56530123200)

I am in need of a KTM crank bearing part number ( (56530123200)). Everyone is backordered on this part till the end of August. I have tried local, USA superstores (KTM Hutt etc). Supply problem. No KTM crank bearings. Yay.

My left nut for one.

WTB Tall seat/silencer and other 04 300 EXC

Do you have any parts for a 2004 KTM 300 EXC cluttering up your garage? Specifically I am looking for shrouds/tall seat/silencer. Will consider other stuff.

Re: 2 stroke engine guru needed

Thanks for all the tips and offers. The co rod had a little play so it may be time for some big end bearings. The head doesn't look too bad. If the cylinder is still in spec I may be able to salvage it as well. I have split cases before but time is tight and I would like to get this done while I am ...

Ok I found the source of the problem. It looks like the missing pieces are in the bottom. Out of my league for now. Need someone to fix this mess.

Re: 2 stroke engine guru needed

Ok I have torn into it. The piston didn't look too bad on the top and the cylinder bore looks ok. I think a new piston/ring/hone is probably in order. The bad news is the engine is still seized with the cylinder head off. Whwere to look next? I think clutch? Kickstart gear? Here is a couple pics: cy...

Re: 2 stroke engine guru needed

Here are the details: Bike was running real strong before the seize. We were climbing up the long cutline heading east on logghopper (after the compressor station). A long hill but not real nasty or anything. I did lay the bike downon a fallen tree about 1/2 up. The bike relit fine but seemed a litt...
