Re: Swanys Ridge and Swanys West

Ahh... Ok... I know what you're talking about now. The reason I thought everyone was referring to the "end" of the trail, is because it looks like there has been some traffic in the grassy section to the west of the "quad stopper" ledges. I thought that was the grassy section being referred to. Exce...

Re: Swanys Ridge and Swanys West

I'd like to make a suggestion: I suggest that the trail be left as it is. Expert riders can climb up to the quad trail, and everyone on bikes can ride down. Beginners can bulldog through the ledges. The reason I suggest this, is because that quad trail ends right at the trail head, and the other day...

Twitch's Broken Bike..

Hey Howard; It was about 15 minutes from the point I saw you on the road, to the time I had a guy with a quad back there and we were towing him out (my second quad tow of the day from that side). After towing out the first guy, I went back onto the course at the Anadarko crossing, and followed the g...

Re: 2012 KTM 250 XC Jetting..

KTM's are jetted "out of the box" to run properly at sea level. We typically ride between 3500 and 8,000 feet, so you need to make a couple of very simple changes: 1. As DirtyBoy says above, drop your stock needle to the second position from the top (thick end of the needle). This will lean out the ...

Re: Tragedy at Kooc

The collision happened at the first set of sand dunes by the private campground. A makeshift "S" track had been created for guys to practice their cornering. There were two significant contributing factors to this tragedy: 1. The guys were railing the track in opposite directions, but more important...

Nice blue KTM.

It even SOUNDS like an XC.

Imitation is the best form of flattery!

Re: KOOKANUSA UPDATE

Rock93; You're right that there HAS been some confusion of what is considered rideable and what isn't, and that the confusion has primarily been coming from the local Conservation Officers (CO). However if you listen to Mr. Visentin's voicemail you'll clearly hear him say that you can ride ANYWHERE ...

Dewalt GPS Tracking for Stolen Bikes

Here's the homepage for the device. You can actually track the unit via the web while on the phone to police (not that I ever need to, 'cause I personally catch the guys who steal my bikes myself! :smirk: ). Main Page: http://www.dewaltmobilelock.com/main.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return ...

Lightly Used 1997 PW80

Very lightly used Yamaha PW80. Purchased it off of an RMDRA member (Red Rider) for my daughter a couple of years ago for $900. She rode it for a total of 4 hours and decided she didn't like riding motorcycles. It's been sitting in my garage since, and now I have no more room for it. It runs just fin...

Re: KOOKANUSA UPDATE

Good Day Everyone. Paul Visentin, the head Conservation Officer for Cranbrook/Koocanusa returned my call today and left a voicemail message clarifying what we as responsible off road users can and can't do down at Koocanusa in the Dorr/Grasmere area. I've recorded the voicemail and uploaded to the '...

Re: MORE GOOD NEWS! THE GUY IS GOING TO BE CHARGED.

Got a call from the police this morning (they woke me up, darn it!). The constable told me that she'd tried numerous times to get the guy to come in so they can "chat" with him, but he's not cooperating. She said that they were now going to go to his house and arrest him directly, and charge him wit...

Re: GOOD NEWS!

That's a great idea.

I'm out in the mountains riding 3-4 days a week during the summer, and would be happy to keep an eye out.

If I can help someone else out, I will.

Send me a photo, your name and contact info, and the serial number.

Re: GOOD NEWS!

I thought it would be easy to proove too. However, even after discussing it briefly with my lawyer, he agreed with the police. From what I understand, stolen property usually sells for 10-20% of what it's actually worth. The guy claimed to the police that he bought the bike for $4,000 - hardly a "st...
